TNT KaTropa went one up over the Meralco Bolts in their best-of-three Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinal series, beating the latter, 102-84, in Game One yesterday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

A battle of teams that finished fourth and fifth place, respectively, at the end of the elimination round, the KaTropa gave their tournament push a favor by taking the opener to move a win away from advancing to the next round.

THE San Miguel Beermen play their penultimate Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup elimination-round assignment today with an eye on coming out triumphant to keep in step with the league leaders.

Taking on the already-eliminated Blackwater Elite in the 4:15 p.m. opener at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City, the Beermen (7-2), currently third running as the classification phase nears the finish line, look to sweep their remaining games to stay in the hunt for a top-two finish and the twice-to-beat advantage that goes with it in the quarterfinals.

AFTER going into overdrive in the elimination round, the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinal phase is ready to go with the GlobalPort Batang Pier completing the cast.

Defeating the Alaska Aces, 107-106, in their knockout match last night, the Aces earned the eighth and final ticket in the playoffs which begin today.

But to do so, GlobalPort needed to get deep into its bag amid a tough challenge that Alaska posted.

SAN Miguel Beer flexed its championship muscles in the fourth period to come from behind and wallop Blackwater, 124-113, in the penultimate playdate of the elimination round of the 2017 Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

Charles Rhodes led the way with 32 points, but got plenty of help from June Mar Fajardo and Marcio Lassiter, who scored 28 and 21 points, respectively.
