GILAS PILIPINAS will have its old nemesis South Korea as an opponent in the quarterfinals of the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup.

Taking place today at 11:30 p.m. at the Nouhad Nawfal Sports Complex in Beirut, Lebanon, the last eight encounter between the familiar foes was forged after South Korea defeated Japan, 81-68, late Monday night in the first phase of the knockout rounds of the continental basketball tournament.

After a longtime partnership, the Elasto Painters surprisingly traded veteran gunner Jeff Chan to go in a new direction.

Rain or Shine shipped Chan, one of its main players in its two league championships, to Phoenix in exchange for forward Mark Borboran and a second-round pick in the coming draft Monday afternoon.

GILAS Pilipinas made an auspicious debut in the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup last night, beating defending champion China, 96-87, despite being reduced to 10 men.

Relying on a total team effort on both ends of the court and an explosion from GlobalPort Batang Pier star guard Terrence Romeo in the end, the Philippines withstood a strong challenge from China to book its first win in this year’s edition of the high-profile regional basketball tournament.

TNT KaTropa pulled of an astounding rally down the stretch to prolong Alaska’s misery and take a thrilling 107-106 win that put the Texters back on track in the 2017 Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Before flying to Lebanon today to be a part of the national team in the FIBA Asia Cup, RR Pogoy first took care of business for his mother team, pouring in 25 points, highlighted by seven triples on only eight attempts as his scoring down the stretch lifted the Tropang Texters when they needed it the most.
