In July 2016, in the wake of Kevin Durant's decision to join the Golden State Warriors, the Dallas Mavericks offered free agent forward Harrison Barnes a four-year, $94 million deal -- and a bigger role than he had played since he was at the University of North Carolina. With a year left on that contract and his role reduced significantly, the Mavericks sent him to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday in the middle of their game against the Charlotte Hornets. Barnes played 26 minutes knowing that a trade was a possibility, and it was completed before the fourth quarter, in which he sat on the bench supporting his ex-teammates, which got the attention of LeBron James.

LEBRON JAMES will not want the Los Angeles Lakers to sign Kyrie Irving in free agency this summer.

That is the opinion of Cris Carter, who believes Irving is too much of a “liability on the defensive end” for the Lakers.

The Lakers catapulted their championship credentials last summer by acquiring James in free agency last summer.

The NBA has determined there were no tampering violations committed by Los Angeles Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson regarding potentially speaking with Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons.

"We have concluded that Magic Johnson's statements regarding Ben Simmons do not constitute a tampering violation," the league's statement said.

After blowing another 20+ point lead to an LA team, Brad Stevens commended former Celtics head coach Doc Rivers for the Clippers’ “great teamness and resolve.” Stevens continued his praise, saying, “you don’t come back from 20-point deficits if you don’t really like each other and pull for each other.
