It was a battle of two banged up teams in Chicago, but the Bucks, featuring debuts by Isaiah Canaanand Bonzie Colson, secure a road victory and a season series sweep.

Not that it looked like it’d be easy right out of the gates. Milwaukee seemed unable to match Chicago’s energy and keep the likes of Zach LaVine contained on numerous possessions. The Bulls would put up 38 points in the first, but the Bucks charged right back with 38 of their own in the second quarter on the way to a 63-54 lead at the half.

The Denver Nuggets opened their four game homestand with an afternoon game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The lazy nature of a Sunday afternoon fit the mood of the game which was often times sloppy, overly officiated and quickly became lopsided. Luckily for the Nuggets, it was lopsided in their way. They get big performances from Paul Millsap and Nikola Jokic and never really leave the game in doubt. The Nuggets win going away 123-96

If I gave you $100,000 to correctly guess LeBron James’ next guest on his hit HBO series, The Shop, you’d probably go with Anthony Davis. Davis and James are both Klutch Sports clients, and we just witnessed a wild period of the season that featured James’ Lakers nearly dealing three-quarters of their roster to New Orleans for Davis at the trade deadline.

For the vast majority of Thursday night’s game against the Houston Rockets, Playoff Intensity LeBron James looked a whole lot like, well, Not Playoff Intensity LeBron James. In the second half, though, he was able to reach down and grab just enough of that effort to help the Los Angeles Lakers pull out a huge win, 111-106.

This was one of those games where, when I asked for volunteers in the writers room to do the recap, everyone took a big step backwards. In truth, the most interesting thing about tonight was who wasn’t playing: Karl Anthony Towns missed a game for the first time in his NBA career, after 303 straight. His absence was due to a car accident he was involved in yesterday, and he has been placed in the league’s concussion protocol, meaning it’s likely he misses tomorrow night’s game in Milwaukee as well.

Damian Lillard is one of the NBA’s best, and as he ages, many have wondered if he’d angle to leave the Portland Trail Blazers for a team better suited to win a championship. He’s given no indications of doing such a thing, even meeting with the late Blazers owner Paul Allen a year ago not to request a trade, but to affirm there was a mutual aspiration to win a title.
