If he does not already, Anthony Davis is going to rue the day he allowed his agent to make an official trade request to leave the New Orleans Pelicans.

Davis did not get dealt by the Feb. 7 in-season deadline, which means he’ll remain on the Pelicans until at least the 2019 offseason. The trade request came too close to the deadline for New Orleans to have a reasonable process to move the All-NBA big man, one of the most talented players of his generation, with more than a full season left on a below-market value contract.

Further, the mere specter of a wild NBA offseason leaves the market in odd shape, further incentivizing the Pelicans to wait. (Never mind that one of the top suitors for Davis — the Celtics — could not trade for Davis in-season due to a salary-cap quirk. Davis’ camp knew this going in.)

For 36 minutes, the Phoenix Suns were beating the Golden State Warriors. They were aggressive in the paint, in scoring, and in taking care of the glass. They were also scrappy and hustling on defense.

But the problem is, there’s 48 minutes in an NBA game, and the Warriors used the last 12 minutes of that to push through with a 117-107 victory against a young and scrappy Suns team that was missing their leading scorer in Devin Booker.

It’s only been two games, and no one ever really denied that if everyone learned how to co-exist this team could be incredible, but wow do the Philadelphia 76ers ever look powerful in the wake of landing Tobias Harris. The Sixers shredded the Nuggets and bludgeoned the Lakers; Philly’s feeling so good Ben Simmons even took a three on Sunday.

The departure of six Clippers players at Thursday’s trade deadline, including leading-scorer Tobias Harris, signaled a significant shift for a team hanging on the cusp of the Western Conference postseason standings. They also acquired four draft picks and five new players, getting younger in the process. It’s certainly too early to say what this will mean for the Clippers to close out the season, but generally, such a shift means a team is preparing for youth development and the NBA draftlottery. But the Clippers’ front office has the playoffs still in sight, and tonight was a clear example of what we might come to expect going forward.

James Harden’s heroics led the Rockets once again as the team beat the Suns by a score of 118-110 on Monday night.

By the end of the night, Harden tallied 44 points on the scoreboard to go with eight rebounds and six assists. He connected on 15 shots on 26 attempts in a very efficient shooting night for the Rockets.
