    • SEAG-Petanque

Thailand is bringing back its champion petanque squad as it bids to retain the overall title in the discipline that gets going Monday in the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the New Clark City in Tarlac.

Aumpawan Suwannaphruk and Sarawut Sriboonpeng, the 2017 mixed double gold medalists, are back to defend their crown against a cast of challengers led by Malaysia.

The Thais won two gold medals, four silvers and one bronze medal in Kuala Lumpur, with Malaysia winning two gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

While Thailand and Malaysia are expected to figure prominently in the medal race, the Philippines is expected to be in the mix.

The members of the Philippine Pentaque squad in the men's division are Julius Philip Bon, Mark Anthony Bon, Nelson Dela Noche, Joshua Fuentes, Ambrocio Gotiñas and Angelo Joseph Sangalang while Leonita Banlat, Arnett Dionicio, Nelia Lara, Honelyn Leonardo, Alejandra Orola and Ma. Corazon Soberre make up the women’s squad. PR
