    National gymnasts made history

    European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Mersin, 8 males, 2 times national athletes who win a medal in the women brought Turkey to taste the first of many in this area.

     

    Organized at the Olympic Gymnastics Hall, the organization both contributed to the promotion of the city thanks to 218 athletes from 21 countries and gave historical success to national athletes.

    The national team, consisting of Ümit Şamiloğlu, Ferhat Arıcan, İbrahim Çolak, Ahmet Önder and Abdelrahman Elgamal, performed their performances in the ground equipment, ring, pull-up bar, parallel bar, horse with handle and jumping table in the championship, which started on December 9.

    The national team came second after Ukraine with 244,793 points, and won the silver medal, despite Abdelrahman Elgamal's injury.

    The success of the nationals, who had the joy of receiving medals as a team in a European championship for the first time in its history, continued in the youth category.

    Mert Efe Kılıçer won the silver medal with 12,933 points in the pull-up tool and the bronze medal with 13,266 points in the parallel bar tool in the juniors.

    Bora Tarhan also won bronze medals with 13,000 points in the ring tool and 14,016 points in the jump table.

    3 medals in tool finals in adults 

    National athletes experienced medal joy three times in the instrument finals in adults.

    İbrahim Çolak, who became the world champion in the ring apparatus at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships held in Germany in 2019, once again won the gold medal at the European Championship with 15,000 points in the same device.

    Colak, won the first medal for the first time Europe had the joy of Turkey on Gymnastics Championships.

    Ferhat Arıcan wore the gold medal on his neck as the European Champion with 15,100 points in the parallel bar device.
