A pair of welterweight bangers are reportedly headed to Florida in April.
According to Combate, the Brazilian ‘Cowboy,’ Alex Oliveira, will take on Chinese knockout artist Li Jingliang in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
One of welterweight’s most active fighters, Alex Oliveira (19-6-1-2 NC) will try and bounce back from a submission loss to Gunnar Nelson in his last outing, back in December 2018. Before the defeat, Cowboy had a submission win over former interim champion Carlos Condit and a TKO victory over Carlo Pedersoli.
Heavy-handed Li Jingliang (16-5) comes into the fight looking for his third straight after besting Daichi Abe via unanimous decision and knocking out David Zawada with a body kick in his last couple of outings. Before these two victories, the 30-year-old dropped a unanimous decision to Jake Matthews back in February 2018 in a Fight of the Night outing.
UFC Fort Lauderdale will take place on April 27th, with the main card airing live on ESPN. Although several bouts have been linked to the card, no official main event has been announced yet. It’s expected that middleweights Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa will headline the card.
