Conor McGregor’s last two UFC fights have been at welterweight, UFC president Dana White revealed that those bouts may be the last times “The Notorious” will be seen at 170-pounds.

“At the end of the day, he’s a 145-pound fighter,” White said (via MMA Weekly). “He could go to (lightweight), but going back up to 170 makes absolutely no sense, and it clogs up the entire division, which isn’t fair to the rest of the crew.”

As the reigning featherweight champion, McGregor has yet to make a decision about whether he will be making his maiden title defense, next. Interim champion José Aldo, who is next in line for a crack at the Irishman, has apparently become impatient and is considering to face former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, instead.

McGregor had also teased about a possible trilogy against Diaz, stating it would be in “his terms” at 155-pounds. But according to White, that idea has already been put to bed.

“I made that fight twice. That’s it. It’s time to move on because (McGregor) has the 145-pound title.”
