    Manila, Philippines--- International Master (IM) Angelo Young kept the Filipino pride with his second-place finish in the GM/IM Norm Invitational Chess Tournament held last March 28, 2018 to April 4, 2018 at the Charlotte Chess Center and Scholastic Academy in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.

    The 1982 Philippine Junior champion halved the point with IM Felix Jose Ynojosa Aponte of Venezuela in the ninth and final round to finish solo second place with 5.5 points on account of two wins and seven draws.Fide Master Christopher Yoo of the United States halved the point with FM Gauri Shankar of India to notch 6.0 points and secure the coveted title. Yoo made US chess history after he broke the 2200 barried, at the age of nine during the 9th David Elliott Memorial in November 19, 2016 enroute the United States Chess Federation (USCF) master title.-Marlon Bernardino-
