In a pleasant surprise on a bad night for boxing on HBO PPV, the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs)fight was announced last Saturday night following Canelo’s one-sided 12 round unanimous decision victory over weigh drained Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (5-3-1, 32 KOs) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Golovkin, 5’10 ½”, stepped inside the ring moments after the lopsided scores were given by the judges for the Canelo-Chavez Jr. fight.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) defeated former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-3-1, 32 KOs) in an incredibly poor fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The final scores were 120-108, 120-108 and 120-108. Boxing News 24 scored it 120-108 in favor of Canelo. After the fight, middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin came into the ring, and they announced that he’ll be fighting Canelo in September.
