Timog, Quezon City - Inatasan ni Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Biyernes,  ang 142 barangays ng lungsod na maging mapagmatyag laban sa bagong  strain ng coronavirus kaugnay sa ulat kamakailan na may na-detect na sa bansa. 
 
Direkta niyang inaatasan ang mga barangay  official na imonitor ang mga residente na dumarating buhat sa ibang bansa, lalo na dun sa may 20 countries kung saan may bagong  virus strain na kumakalat gaya ng  United Kingdom, Middle East, Turkey, the Netherlands, France, Australia, at China, at iba pa. 
 
“Following the old adage ‘prevention is better than cure,’ we are now focused on stopping the new virus strain from spreading here,” ani Belmonte.
 
Aniya pa,  plano ng siyudad na hilingin sa mga hotel na kasalukuyang ginagamit bilang  quarantine facilities na pagkalooban ang lungsod ng mga listahan ng pangalan na nakarehistro sa kanilang mga pasilidad. 
 
Hangad din ng city government na makahingi ng tulong mula sa  Bureau of Quarantine sa pagkilala sa kanilang mga residente na bumalik mula sa ibang mga bansa. 
 
 
Tiniyak ni Joseph Juico, QC Task Force on COVID-19 head, ang mga  residente ng  city government na pinagpapatuloy ang kanilang contact tracing efforts, improved quarantine facilities at mapalawak ang 
testing capabilities.
 
“Prior to this report of a new strain, we have established a good strategy to improve surveillance, and control surges, upticks and possibly this new COVID-19 variant,” aniya. 
 
Ipinangako niyang patuloy nilang pinaalalahanan ang mga  residente na mahigpit na sundin ang ang basic health protocols sa kabila ng mga balita ng pagtaas ng  transmission rate ng bagong  variant sa pamamagitan ng pinaigting na communication campaign.(LP/MST)
