    McDonald’s continues to help improve children’s literacy through Stripes Run

     

    Manila, Philippines — On December 1, 2019, McDonald’s Philippines for the 10th time brought together families and friends to run for reading at Stripes Run 2019. Held at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, Stripes Run raised funds for the Ronald McDonald Read to Learn program.

    MANILA – As the 2019 Southeast Asian Games finally came to a close on Wednesday, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William Ramirez lauded the Filipino athletes for their hard work and determination to regain the Games supremacy.

    Ramirez made the remark after the Philippines pulled out its best performance in the 30th SEA Games, garnering a record 149 golds, 117 silvers and 121 bronzes in 530 events of the 56 sports played throughout the 10-day competitions of the 11-nation biennial multi-sports meet.

    The Philippine men’s volleyball team dethroned Thailand with a gusty come-from-behind 17-25, 25-20, 23-25, 27-25, 17-15 victory Sunday to advance to the gold medal match of the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the Philsports Arena.

     

    Phillip Delarmino and Ariel Lee Lampacan earned two tough victories to win the gold medals in the 30th Southeast Asian Games’ muaythai competition Sunday at the Exhibition and Convention Center here.Delarmino,

    ASIDE from the excellent performances of Iloilo athletes now competing in the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) hosted by the Philippines, there is another reason why Ilonggos are so proud and should be prouder nowadays.

    The last time Filipino tankers won in the SEA Games was way back in 2009 when Miguel Molina won a pair of mints in the men’s 200 and 400-meter individual medley while Daniel Coakley and Ryan Arabejo had one each in the men’s 50-meter freestyle and men’s 1,500-meter freestyle,

    Meralco coach Norman Black emphasized the importance of being on-point defensively as the second-seeded Bolts face offensive juggernaut TNT KaTropa in the PBA Governors' Cup semis.

    "It will be a huge challenge being matched up against the top offensive team in the conference," said Black after getting the No. 3 KaTropa as their opponent in best-of-five duel beginning Dec. 13.

    PAL athletes join SEA Games


    Philippine Airlines (PAL) is raising the country’s flag for all Filipino athletes, two of whom are PAL crew competing in separate events. PAL Captain Ditto Nestor Dinopol not only flies the Airbus A320 airplane in his day job, but will also vie for medals in shooting; while Flight Steward Christopher Policarpo is part of the Philippine Underwater Hockey team for the SEA Games.

     SEA Games -Weightlifting 

    Hidilyn Diaz emerged as the star of the show for Team Philippines on Monday when she finally bagged her first Southeast Asian Games gold with a dominant performance in women’s weightlifting.

    • SEAG-Pencak Silat 

    Pencak Silat delivered its maiden gold for the Philippines in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games after Edmar Tacuel topped the men’s seni tunggal event Monday noon at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center.
