    President Rodrigo Duterte has tasked the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) as one of the government’s instruments of peace while securing its role as the top fund source of the country’s elite sports program.
    PSC Chairman William Ramirez disclosed that the agency has given the government’s focus on grassroots sports extra attention, too, following the earlier cancellation of the country’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

     
     
    Less than two months before the Philippine hosting of the 30th South East Asian Games, the Philippine South East Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) has gained a new partner through Mediapro Asia. PINACO, Vietnam’s leading dry cell and storage battery signed a commitment of support with PHISGOC for the hosting of the 30th SEA games.
     
    “Since our last partnership announcement, we are excited to once again have another partner on board for the SEA Games. With PINACO, this opens up the Vietnamese market for us, and we are hoping that this would be the first of many other collaborations with PINACO,” said Lars Heidenreich, Managing Director Mediapro Asia.

     

    The rehabilitation sports facilities ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte are meant not just for the country’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games but for future tournaments as well.

    Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez assured this yesterday, saying that they are looking to open the government sports facilities to various local and international tourneys as well as collegiate leagues like the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

    Ramirez said the completion of the refurbishing of the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila, Philsports Sports Complex in Pasig City and Teachers Camp in Baguio City remains on track and would be done on or before November 15.

    STUTTGART - Carlos Edriel Yulo capped his campaign in the 41st FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships on a stirring golden note on Saturday in clinching the men's floor exercise title at the Hans Schleyer Halle here.

Ramirez thanked Mindanao regional coordinators for their hard work in promoting grassroots sports and he also urged them to give their best until 2022 as the PSC-Philippine Sports Institute strategic planning concluded here at The Pinnacle Hotel and Suites yesterday, October 12.
