A great night of fights at the Forum in Inglewood California that did not disappoint for those in attendance. The triple header started off with an interesting light heavyweight bout between the hard hitting ‘everyman’ Joe Smith Jr of New York and the well experienced tactician Sullivan Barrera of Miami. Most were expecting this to be a brawl filled with fireworks and knock downs, and the first round was just that.

Unbeaten light heavyweight contender Marcus Browne (20-0, 15 KOs) obliterated previously unbeaten #6 WBO Sean Monaghan (28-1, 17 KOs) by a 2 round knockout on Saturday night on Premier Boxing Champions on Fox FSI at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

Browne, 26, knocked the 35-year-old Monaghan down with a left hand to the head in the 1st round. In round 2, Browne hurt Monaghan with a flurry of shots that caused referee Steve Willis to step in and halt the fight.

HBO commentator Harold Lederman says he sees age starting to show in Gennady “GGG” Golovkin since his last fight against Danny Jacobs, and he’s not sure if he can beat Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on September 16. Lederman says the 35-year-old Triple G still must be viewed as the favorite to defeat Canelo Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) simply by being the bigger, stronger and more experienced fighter of the two.

The judges scored the fight 118-110, 118-110 and 120-108. Boxing News 24 scored the fight to Eubank Jr. by 9 rounds to 3 score.

In a battle of ring rusty welterweights, Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (33-5-1, 18 KOs) weighed in at 146.6 pounds on Friday for his 10 round fight against former WBC World lightweight champion Omar Figueroa (26-0-1, 18 KOs) on Saturday night on Premier Boxing Champions on Fox from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. Figueroa weighed in at 146.4 lbs.
