Yoel Romero opens as big betting favorite over Michael Bisping

The number-one contender to the UFC middleweight title has opened as a large favorite over the current champ.

At this time last week, the UFC’s middleweight division was effectively stalled by a proposed fight between 185-pound champion Michael Bisping and the returning Georges St-Pierre. When GSP tried to delay the fight until November (or later), UFC president Dana White finally stepped in and took St-Pierre’s shot at the title away. Enter Yoel Romero.

The top contender for the belt is who Dana White says will face Bisping next. This bout isn’t official and hasn’t been formally announced by the promotion, but it is believed that it could take place in July. With that in mind, oddsmakers got the jump on things and issued a betting line.

For those new to BestFightOdds, they take the lines from many sports books and offer the best on each side in the handy chart above. In this case, there are only two books offering the fight so far. Bovada has Romero at -275 and Bisping at +215, while Sportsbook sees it way differently with Romero at -350 and Bisping at +270.

Would anyone bet on Bisping at this price? Is Romero worth a bet if you can get him below -300? Hopefully this fight does indeed come to fruition, because I’m curious about how much the odds might change once some serious money comes in on it.
