Formally to open on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum with the season-opening conference Philippine Cup, “PBA@42” has league officials bullish of a good year and another opportunity for them to improve on their brand with the end view of making things more exciting for the PBA fans.

Set to happen at the Robinsons Place Manila, the draft allows the 12 teams in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) to add on new players from a pool of 55 players, as of this writing, from the amateur ranks.

Chris Newsome had all the makings of what could have been an epic Friday night.

Honored as this season’s Rookie of the Year, the highflying winger was motivated to help Meralco go on a 3-1 series lead against Ginebra in the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals. The Bolts also seemed to have found their groove, running the Gin Kings to the ground as they established a 74-58 third quarter lead.
