Pinay judokas will take centerstage in the upcoming webisode of the Philippine Sports Commission’s Rise Up Shape Up this Saturday, August 14.

Judoka Nicole Habierto who topped the Seniors White category of the 7th Women’s Martial Arts Festival will lead the episode at 10:30 a.m. along with Marq Gabrielle Padilla, Louiza Talaue, Erin Unice Nacida, and Zoey Itliong.

They will talk about their winning takedowns and share their sporting journey to success in the recent Women’s Martial Arts Festival.

Padilla bagged the gold medal in the Seniors Colored Category while Talaue showcased her gold-winning prowess in the Cadet class, as well as Nacida and Itliong for the Kids division.

“The remarkable performance of these young judokas exhibit women empowerment more than ever, especially in a male-dominated field,” said PSC oversight Commissioner in Women in Sports Celia H. Kiram.

Commissioner Kiram is confident in these athletes and hoping to see more female practitioners in the field of sports who will soon carry the Philippine tricolors in the different multisport arenas in the world.

Kiram also acknowledged the victories of our national female athletes like weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, who took home the first-ever Olympic gold medal for the Philippines, and boxing silver medalist Nesthy Petecio in the recently concluded 2020+1 Tokyo Olympic Games where the country made a historic and best-ever Olympic performance with 1-gold, 2-silver, and 1 bronze medals. 

“Aside from Hidilyn and Nesthy, we have these five young judokas showing us that girls and women can in sports. I look forward to having more young girls and women joining the field of sports because it is a field where women can excel as well,” said the lady Commissioner. 

Further, Kiram will also share a short history of judo in her K-Isport segment.
