Gennady Golovkin has re-enrolled with VADA through September 15, which is a date that just happens to coincide with the date that Saul Canelo Alvarez will be fighting next. Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs) is hoping to face the Mexican star Canelo to knockout this time and make sure that the judges don’t get a chance to put their own slant on the outcome like what happened last September in the first Caenlo-GGG fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Regis Prograis says he thinks Josh Taylor will defeat Viktor Postol on June 23, and then join him in the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) light welterweight tournament. Prograis (21-0, 18 KOs) says he thinks that even if Taylor (12-0, 10 KOs) doesn’t enter the WBSS tournament, he’ll beat WBC 140 pound champion Jose Ramirez to capture his belt.

WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis ‘Superman’ Stevenson (29-1-1, 24 KOs) retained his title by rallying to hold challenger Badou Jack (22-1-3, 13 KOs) to a 12 round majority draw on Saturday night at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Stevenson, 40, appeared to do just enough to deserve a victory, but the judges scored it a draw by the following scores: 114-114, 115-113 for Jack and 114-114. Boxing News 24 scored the fight to Stevenson by 115-113.

WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr. (29-1, 17 KOs) used his superior hand speed and high work rate to defeat 2012 Olympian Joseph Diaz Jr. (26-1, 14 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hills, Maryland.

The judges’ scores were 115-113, 117-111, 117-111. Boxing News 24 had it for Russell Jr. by the score 117-111. He built up a big lead in the first 8 rounds, and the coasted in the final 4 rounds to win a fairly easy fight.

Jaime Munguia (29-0, 25 KOs) will reportedly be making his first defense of his WBO junior middleweight title against mandatory challenger Liam ‘Beefy’ Smith (26-1-1, 14 KOs) on July 21 or 28 in a Golden Boy Promotions event in California.

Smith is an advanced fighter for the young Munguia to be fighting at this early stage of his career. It would say a lot of Munguia is able to beat a fighter like Smith, because he can take a good punch and he’s smart.
