Knicks point guard Derrick Rose went missing from the team Monday without permission but later reached team officials, telling them he had a family situation and had returned to his hometown of Chicago, sources told ESPN.
He was back at the team facility Tuesday.
Rose missed Monday night's loss to the Pelicans, and the Knicks had grown concerned enough earlier to check on him at his apartment, sources said.

Despite losing a 20-point lead to start the second half, the Cavaliers held on in a closely fought game in Phoenix to open up their west coast road trip with a 120-116 win. The Cavs appeared to be cruising to a comfortable win on the road in Phoenix with a 69-53 lead at the half, but the were caught flat-footed in the third quarter by a Suns’ 25-7 run.

In a game I’m sure you all watched instead of the absolutely bananas college football national championship between Clemson and Alabama, the New Orleans Pelicans finally got into the win column for the 2017 calendar year thanks to another superstar effort from Anthony Davis and a barrage of three point bombs from the rest of the cast.

A tale of two games
This one is still hard to process. The Golden State Warriors lost to the Memphis Grizzlies 119-128. But they played beautifully and sharply in the first three quarters, leading by as much as 24 points. It felt all but over as the Warriors started the fourth quarter up 98-79, then it all fell apart.

Ah, the emotions of being a sports fan. The Warriors came out and started the game with one of those first halves that has Warriors faithful sweating. And in the end, we wound up winning the game by double digits. Were you worried? I was, but only a little, and only until the 3rd quarter started.
The Heat caught those Lakers hands.
The Los Angeles Lakers were too hot for the Miami Heat, scorching them in a 126-100 victory. Brandon Ingram had a great game, tying a career-high in scoring with 17 points along with four pretty dimes and six rebounds. The big story might have been Luol Deng’s revenge game with 19 points, but Jordan Clarkson and Goran Dragic getting ejected for fighting is definitely your lede for the night.
