The Celtics are one win away from facing LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals as they beat the Washington Wizards 123-101 in Game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead back to Washington.

BOSTON – LeBron is in sight.

After two humiliating losses in Washington, the Celtics came home and throttled the Washington Wizards 123-101, pushing John Wall and the Wiz to the brink. Boston heads back to Washington for an elimination game Friday as LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers await a potential Game 1 Monday.

The Warriors and the Cavaliers are both looking at back-to-back sweeps. It’s the first time in history two teams have started 8-0 in the playoffs. Sure, the sweeps in the first round were to be expected, but both teams did it in the second round as well. And those sweeps may have been more dominant than you realized.

The Spurs managed to pull out a huge win despite shooting poorly, giving the Rockets 48 threes and losing their best player down the stretch.

Not only did we finally get 48 minutes of competitive basketball for the first time in this series, we got 53. And the Spurs came out on top in an overtime period that didn’t see a second of play from Kawhi Leonard, out nursing an ankle that was tweaked in the third quarter. Kawhi didn’t see the floor in the last eight minutes of the game.

Kyle Lowry is a 31-year old who just played his best season in the NBA. In his first four seasons, Lowry looked like a fine backup, and in his next three, there was no question he was a perfectly adequate starting point guard. Only over the last four years has he emerged as a guard who can dominate on an excellent offense and average more than 20 points per game.

The Cavs are now 8-0 in the playoffs and will get more time off. 

With a 109-102 road win Sunday in Game 4 against the Toronto Raptors, the Cleveland Cavaliers are onto the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Cavs, like they did in Game 3, came out cold in the first quarter. With 4:39 to play, Cleveland trailed 18-8 with the Toronto going on a 13-2 run.

Warriors finish off the Jazz in Utah to complete the series sweep and move on to the Western Conference Finals.

The Golden State Warriors sent the Utah Jazz packing tonight with a 121-95 win. Golden State has yet to lose a game in the playoffs as they move on to face either the San Antonio Spurs or the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Finals.

The Rockets led buzzer-to-buzzer and pulled away in the second half to tie up the series.

The Spurs have faced two of the most difficult playoff scenarios in the last three days. One is going on the road and facing an angry team at home after a blowout win. After they handled that with a win in Game 3, the next was dealing with an angry team facing a must-win situation in its home venue. This time the Rockets responded and led buzzer-to-buzzer. While the Spurs fought valiantly to stay in it in the first half, the Rockets found their stroke in the third quarter to pull away for the blowout and tie the series back up at 2-2.
