Undefeated light heavyweight contender Dmitry Bivol (11-0, 9 KOs) destroyed former world title challenger Cedric Agnew (29-3, 15 Kos) by a 4th round technical knockout on Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bivol, 26, was hitting Agnew at will in the corner when the referee stepped and stopped the one-sided contest. Agnew’s right eye was swollen, and he was just covering up and not even trying to fight.

This branding was largely based off Bellew’s role in the Creed movie where he played “Pretty” Ricky Conlan. However, after a controversial first encounter, this weekend’s rematch between Andre Ward and Sergey Kovalev, provides us with plenty of parallels with what is arguably the most compelling of the rocky story-lines.

Promoter Kathy Duva of Main Events believes that the reason Floyd Mayweather Jr. scheduled his August 26 fight with Conor McGregor so close to the September 16 fight between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Gennady GGG” Golovkin is because he’s trying to FORCE them off the September date. Duva reasons that by Mayweather scheduling his with McGregor so close to Canelo-Golovkin, it will mean fewer PPV buys for their fight.

Andre Ward and Sergey Kovalev both tipped the scales at 175 pounds at their weigh-in for Saturday night’s rematch at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two fighters looked in great shape with neither of them appearing weight drained. Ward, 33, looked a little tired, but other than that, he looked in fighting shape. The two fighters had a long stare down with Ward saying something to Kovalev while smiling at him.

Following protracted negotiations of over a year, Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor tonight both confirmed that they’ll be meeting in the squared circle on August the 26th, in a 12-round contest hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The fight will be the first of UFC superstar Conor McGregor’s Boxing career, and the 50th of his opponent Floyd Mayweather’s.

Saturday June 17th Sergey Kovalev (30-1-1, 26 KOs) and Andre Ward (31-0, 15 KOs) will square off once again to determine the holder of the most belts in the light heavyweight division. Much has been documented about the controversial scoring in the first fight, where Ward was deemed the winner by identical scores of 114-113 despite throwing 137 fewer punches, connecting on 10 fewer punches, and being knocked down by Kovalev.
