GRANDMASTER Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr., the country’s hottest titled player, will be seeking one more International Tournament before the year ends. 

The 13-times Philippine Open champion Antonio toppled Italian International Master Spartaco Sarno in the 11th and final round after 51 moves of Caro-kann-French defense transposition skirmish to brought home the runner-up honors in the 27th World Senior Chess Championship 2017 (50+ and 65+ Open-men and women) in Acqui Terme, Italy on Sunday.

FILIPINO Grandmaster (GM) Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. (Elo 2431) halved the point with Indian International Master (IM) Devaki V Prasad (Elo 2290) in yesterday’s third round to create a tenth-way tie for sixth in the 27th World Senior Chess Championship 2017  (50+ and 65+ Open-men and women) in Acqui Terme, Italy.

ALEXANDRA Sydney Paez lived up to her billing by clinching the title of the 23rd Golden Mind Chess Tournament (Under-14) was held last Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Tagumpay Canteen, Poblacion in Lipa City, Batangas. 

Paez, the pride of Cabuyao, Laguna scored a total of 6.5 points in the seventh-round Swiss System format event to annex the title and the P3,000 champion purse plus a trophy.

THAILAND blitz chess king Alvin Roma once again is at the top of his game after winning the Barangay San Martin De Porres Chess Festival dubbed as sportsman Melecio C. Advincula III Chess Cup last Saturday at the Barangay San Martin De Porres, Barangay Hall in Cubao, Quezon City.

The ex-National University (NU) standout player Roma who is best to remember by winning some tough tournament in  Tarlac province, San Mateo and Montalban, Rizal , Metro Manila as well in Thailand scored 6.5 points on six wins and a draw to bring home the P3,000 top purse plus the elegant trophy.
