Imagine being 32 years old, spending 10 years in the NBA G-League, and finally getting called up to the NBA with two games left in the regular season.

That was the life of new Los Angeles Lakers guard Andre Ingram, who signed a 10-day contract on Monday. Ingram made his debut on Tuesday night, and he lit the Rockets up for 19 points on 6-of-8 from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point range in 29 minutes.

First it’s set shots from within the dotted line. Then free throws. Then running floaters and pull-up jump shots. Eventually, he works his way out to the three-point line. Some shots drop. Others don’t.

With the Pelicans leading Indiana by two with less than a minute left in Wednesday’s game, Anthony Davis caught the ball in the post while being defended by Myles Turner. He spun clockwise, took one dribble, and pump-faked. When Turner didn’t bite, Davis resorted to making a fadeaway jumper with a hand in his face.

Earlier this year, when Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey was asked about shortening his rotation in the postseason, he didn’t seem too eager.

“We will find out,” Casey told reporters. “The goal is to find out. Why not? What is our record right now? So why change this because some rulebook somewhere, if you find it, please send it to me because I have been on some teams where you keep the same rotation, and somebody somewhere in the back of a room says well, playoffs you have to shorten your rotation, so we have to find out unless this group proves us wrong.”
