Anthony Johnson recently announced that he would make his much-anticipated return to mixed martial arts (MMA), this time as a Heavyweight. “Rumble” retired following his second loss to former UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier, though it seems getting swole and the cannabis business wasn’t fulfilling the void fighting left behind. Johnson recently stated that it was Cormier and current 265-pound champion, Stipe Miocic, who motivated him to mount a comeback in the land of the big men. When he does return, Johnson will be a welcome sight in a division that is set to lose “DC” in the near future.

After Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) failed to come to terms with Colby Covington to fight its Welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, in UFC 244’s main event next month, the promotion turned to Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. Indeed, the two men will headline the pay-per-view (PPV) card, which takes place inside Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y., on Nov. 2, 2019, and the victor will walk away with the “baddest motherf*cker” belt worth a cool $50,000. Meanwhile, many have come out mocked the promotion for wasting its time and efforts on a ”little boys” belt.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez shocked the MMA and pro wrestling world last week when he showed up on WWE Smackdown to challenge Brock Lesnar. The two have real world history together: Velasquez took the belt off Lesnar at UFC 121 in 2010. So to see him in pro wrestling threatening to take Brock’s WWE championship? It’s a nice example of the painful poetic parallels pro wrestling loves drawing with real life. But what’s the deal? Is Velasquez now on the WWE roster? Cain spoke with ESPN shortly after his Smackdown appearance and clarified he hadn’t signed a deal with the wrestling company.
