A LOT of things have developed the past two days for the Smart Gilas Pilipinas National team.

While the Gilas Pilipinas just wrapped up its three-day bonding and training camp yesterday in Tagaytay, several members of the team’s training pool suffered injuries.

It was discovered early this week that Star spitfire Paul Lee has a meniscus tear and his mobility on his knee is limited at the moment.

With that, National team management decided to let Lee go for now and called up his Hotshots teammate Allein Maliksi to take his place at the moment.

Despire his injury, Lee is still expected to play for his mother team Star in the coming Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup on a limited capacity.

Smart Gilas’ next tournament will be the Southeast Asia Basketball Association tilt which the country will host on May 12 to 18.

National coach Chot Reyes confirmed this development, but said that Lee’s exclusion is just temporary as he is set to recuperate from his injury.

Also, another Gilas member in Arthur Dela Cruz suffered a ruptured tendon in the middle of the camp last Monday.

As a result, Dela Cruz was immediately sent to the Makati Medical Center for an immediate emergency surgery last Tuesday.

With this, Dela Cruz is in danger of missing the entire Commissioner’s Cup.
