THE Rain or Shine Elasto Painters streaked to their third straight win in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governors’ Cup yesterday, defeating the Star Hotshots, 92-88, to hand the latter their first loss in the season-ending tournament.

Racked up back-to-back victories entering their curtain-raiser versus the Hotshots at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, the E-Painters made it three in a row with a solid effort to hold off the Hotshots.

GILAS PILIPINAS earned a return trip to the gold medal game in men’s basketball of the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, after defeating scrappy Singapore, 68-60, in the semifinals played at the MABA Stadium.

While they got challenged more than expected by the Singaporeans, the nationals kept their composure in the end to hack out the victory, giving them the chance to defend the title they have been holding for more than two decades now.

THE hottest team right now in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governors’ Cup, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings, is out to claim another victory when it takes on the struggling Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters in the 7 p.m. main game today at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Lost in their debut in the season-ending PBA conference, the Kings (4-1) have been unstoppable since, winning their next four games to make their way to the top of the standings.
