WHO will have the top pick in the upcoming 2017 Philippine Basketball Association Draft next week?

That question is still in everyone’s mind and the answer is still not certain up to this point after a surprising development over the weekend.

Kia, a team obviously struggling with success and personnel management, shockingly reached an agreement with San Miguel Beer to deal away its top pick last weekend.

RECHARGED by a rousing Game 1 victory Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings target a 2-0 advantage in the 2017 Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup when they meet the Meralco Bolts 6:30 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum tonight.

The Gin Kings swarmed all over Meralco import Allen Durham, relied on their size to prevent all inside incursions then watched the Bolts miss their outside shots to post a lopsided 102-87 victory at the start of the best-of-seven title playoff at the Quezon Convention Center last Friday.

A PLAYER entering his prime already winning his fourth Most Valuable Player award. Let that sink in. 

JuneMar Fajardo, the 27-year-old San Miguel Beer stalwart, was once again the biggest individual winner, taking home his record fourth straight Most Valuable Player award for the season in the 2017 Philippine Basketball Association Leo Awards yesterday.

FOR the second year in a row, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings and Meralco Bolts will dispute the championship for the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governors’ Cup, beginning today in Game One of their best-of-seven finals series in Lucena City in Quezon Province.

Happening at the Quezon Convention Center at 7 p.m., the defending champions Kings and Bolts try to draw first flood and move a step closer to bagging the title for the season-ending PBA conference.

THE ONGOING best-of-seven Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governors’ Cup finals affair hits the pivotal Game Four today where both the protagonists — Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings and Meralco Bolts — are looking to get the win that could well change the complexion of the series moving forward in their respective favor.

SIDELINED by an ACL tear for a year, Greg Slaughter said he’s not yet 100 percent back in shape after undergoing operation and rehabilitation. 

And yet, the seven-foot Barangay Ginebra slotman is expected to crowd his teammate LA Tenorio, San Miguel Beer’s JuneMar Fajardo and Meralco swingman Chris Newsome for the PBA Best Player of the Conference Award.

THE Meralco Bolts notched their first win in the ongoing Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup finals after taking Game Three of their best-of-seven affair with the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings, 94-81, last night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Facing the possibility of going down 0-3 in the series and having to do the near-Sisyphean task of sweeping the remaining games if they are to win the title, the Bolts gutted it out with the defending champions to hack out the win and infuse life to their championship hopes.

EXPECT the upcoming 2017 Philippine Basketball Association Draft to be deep and full of talent.

Most of the country’s top amateur stars have already declared for the pros, making the draft an interesting event.

A month after Filipino-German national player Christian Standhardinger applied for the draft, other top amateur prospects followed suit right away.
