Selected by the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics, in that order, in the first three picks of the annual draft, all the three incoming NBA freshmen said they are very excited over the situations they are placed in.

The Indiana Pacers are taking their time to trade Paul George, but they’re still headed in that direction. The latest rumor, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein and Chris Haynes, is that the Denver Nuggets might be involved as a third team in a potential deal.

The only person who really knows how close the New York Knicks came to trading Kristaps Porzingis before Thursday’s draft is Phil Jackson. Everyone involved will say publicly (and, probably, anonymously to reporters) that the trade wasn't close. (Jackson didn't want to comment on the Knicks' trade discussions Thursday night.)

League sources, though, say that members of the Knicks front office were at the very least intrigued by some offers they received for Porzingis over the course of the past few days.

Dallas will decline its team option to offer Nowitzki a new deal, which is a strong indication he has more than one year left.

It sounds like Dirk Nowitzki has multiple good years left in him. The Dallas Mavericks will decline Nowitzki’s $25 million team option for next season with the intention of inking him to a new contract, possibly a multi-year deal, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein. A two-year contract is one scenario, according to Stein.

Lakers tentatively get passing marks for their dealings around draft day.

Before the Lakers drafted Lonzo Ball No. 2 overall in Thursday’s NBA draft, they traded D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov to the Brooklyn Nets for Brook Lopez and the No. 27 pick. That’s basically a discount for a young player — albeit one who had a rocky start to his career — who many believed had star potential when he was drafted second in 2015.

THE San Miguel Beermen are now on the driver’s seat of their best-of-seven Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup finals affair with the TNT KaTropa after taking Game Three, 109-97, last night to race to a 2-1 series lead. 

Building on its lopsided win in the second game of the finals of the midseason PBA tournament, San Miguel surged to back-to-back wins after dropping the series opener albeit needing to dig deep in Game Three to hack out the win.

Jimmy Butler poured his emotions onto his smartphone screen, posting a picture on Instagram of himself in front of the Chicago skyline. Butler, a perennial All-Star and one of the league’s best two-way players, was traded from the Bulls to the Minnesota Timberwolves during Thursday’s NBA draft.
