Fresh off a 30-point thrashing at the hands of the Golden State Warriors, the (previously) winless Dallas Mavericks had their sights set on a home matchup with the (previously) undefeated Memphis Grizzlies. Obviously, the constant use of the word “previously” means that the Mavs won a game by the final score of 103-94 — and it was AWESOME.

The Grizzlies’ hot and surprising start to the season continued into Monday night, as they fought off the Rockets 98-90 at the Toyota Center in Houston. After an impressive win over the defending champion Warriors Saturday night, Memphis was able to follow it up against a tough divisional opponent.

Victor Oladipo led six double figure scorers for Indiana as the Pacers topped Minnesota on the road.

The Indiana Pacers showed a total team effort in a big road win against the Minnesota Timberwolves, snapping their two game skid to move back to .500. Indiana overcame a five point deficit in the third, closing the quarter on a 24-5 run to put them in the lead for good.

Washington used a balanced attack to defeat the Denver Nuggets by a score of 109-104 on Monday night. It was a wire to wire battle, which wasn’t always pretty for the Wizards, but they used a productive night across the board to win the first game of their West Coast road trip. Bradley Beal led the scoring charge with 20 points while John Wall and Otto Porter had 19 and 17, respectively.

The Atlanta Hawks didn’t just lose to the Brooklyn Nets 116-104 on Sunday. They also might have lost the services of Dennis Schroder for maybe a few games.

Schroder injured his left foot late in the Nets game while driving baseline to the basket. The 24-year-old guard stepped on the foot of Brooklyn’s Caris Levert before sprawling to the floor and grimacing in pain.

With one minute to go, the Wolves were holding onto a three point lead against the Thunder and the human supernova that is Russell Westbrook. Westbrook drove in and got a bucket, bringing the lead to one. On the other end, Taj Gibson missed a 20-footer and Andrew Wiggins skied in to tip the basketball in.
