Dillon Danis has made a lot of waves in the grappling and MMA scenes with his brash talk, but he wasn’t quite able to back it up at Submission Underground 4 in Portland on Sunday. In the main event match of the show he was narrowly defeated by MMA stalwart Jake Shields, who won after three overtimes on escape time.

When Anthony Johnson suddenly announced his retirement from MMA, following a loss to Daniel Cormier at UFC 210, speculation ran wild as to where he would end up next. Most of that was due to Johnson himself, who teased that he had big plans coming, but that he couldn’t reveal just what they were, yet. Was he going to work with the L.A. Rams? UFC president Dana White is giving it a last-ditch effort to negotiate with Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather to get their boxing match booked.

If you go by UFC president Dana White’s words in recent days, things have taken a turn for the worse as far as booking Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor. White went from thinking there’d be a better chance of him backing Tom Brady up in the Super Bowl than Mayweather-McGregor happening, to changing his stance and saying to Conan O’Brien that he believed it was going to happen.
