Ang 12 years old Cu ay nakisalo sa first-second places kay National Master Carlo Lorena na kapwa nakalikom ng tig 6 points sa five minutes plus three seconds increment time control format na nilahukan ng 61 woodpushers.
Dahil mataas ang tiebreak points ay nakamit ni Cu ang titulo habang tumapos si Lorena ng second.
Si Cu na Grade 7 student ng Xavier School, San Juan City na nasa gabay ni coach IA Rolly Yutuc ay nakapagtala ng panalo kontra kina Harold Alianza sa first round, Alex Amatonding sa second round, Marvid Zuniega sa third round, National Master Carlo Lorena sa fourth round, National Master Glennen Artuz sa fifth round at Joeven Polsotin sa sixth at penultimate round. Natalo siya kay Jess Calabia sa seventh at final round.
Nito ding Lunes, Agosto 30, 2021 kaalinsabay ng pagdaraos ng National Heroes Day at 125th Araw ng Pinaglabanan ay nakatangap si Cu ng Plaque of Recognition mula sa City Government ng San Juan, as per City Resolution No. 110, Series of 2021, na kinilala bilang National Master sa Chess.

Ating magugunita nitong Agosto 24, 2021 ay nagkampeon si Cu sa National Master Ronald Llavanes Birthday Arena competition (Individual Tournament).
