THE defending champions De La Salle Lady Spikers are on a winning streak anew, getting the better of the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs, 25-21, 25-11, 15-25 and 25-12, in a key University Athletic Association of the Philippines match yesterday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Ended the opening round with a loss, the Lady Spikers have now won back-to-back games while fortifying their hold of solo second spot in Season 79 with a 7-2 card.

AFTER playing two conferences in the Philippine Super Liga (PSL), former Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) towering spiker Mary Grace "Shang" Necesario Berte awaits for a brighter future as a professional volleyball player.

The five-foot-ten Berte, who resides at Raphael Castillo Street in Agdao, Davao City, has indeed come a long way since she tested her raw volleyball talent during a High School intramurals at Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) at J.P. Laurel Avenue. She was about 13 or 14 years old then.

Defending champions De La Salle Lady Spikers and the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, losers in their last games, look to bounce back today as they take on each other in the main game at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

Dropped their last assignments in the first round of the eliminations, La Salle (5-2) and FEU (4-3) try to get their campaign in the second half of the season off to a good start in their encounter scheduled for 4 p.m.
