The Warriors overcame their own lackadaisical defense and the Nets’ hot shooting to get another road win.

Tonight's game in Brooklyn was just one more example of why beating the Golden State Warriors is so difficult.

After the Brooklyn Nets gave all they had to build a 16-point halftime lead, the Warriors tied the game about halfway through the third quarter and somehow ended up making it look like an easy 117-101 win.

With Stephen Curry struggling to hit shots, it was Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson who picked up the scoring slack, scoring 26 and 23 points, respectively. Yet we've come to expect scoring from some combination of that trio; subtly more noteworthy was center Zaza Pachulia’s work in the paint against a Nets team that did not lack heart and hustle.

The Thunder atoned from their 4th quarter mistakes vs the Hawks and got back in the win column in New Orleans.

The dynamic backcourt of John Wall and Bradley Beal helped the Wizards close out the Bulls with some key plays late to pull out a 107-97 win in Chicago. John Wall led the way for the Wizards with 23 points and 9 assists, while Beal wasn’t far behind with 21 points and five assists of his own.

Washington fell behind early as the Bulls shot 62.5 percent in the first quarter and outrebounded the Wizards 18-3 in the period en route to a 33-22 lead. But the Wizards roared back in the second quarter using a 10-1 run to get back into the game. They also got more active in transition in the quarter. Heat roar back to life in second half to erase a 19-point deficit against Lakers.

The Miami Heat stumbled out of the gate early and faced a 19-point deficit against the visiting Los Angeles Lakers, but took the game over with a dominant second half for a crucial 115-107 win.

Justise Winslow had a career-best game, matching center Hassan Whiteside with 19 points and 13 rebounds each — representing career highs in both categories for the second-year player. Tyler Johnson, James Johnson and Josh Richardson also had big roles in the comeback victory, which was the second consecutive game in which the Lakers lost a 19-point lead.

The Golden State Warriors used a huge night from Stephen Curry to take care of the Utah Jazz in quick order at home.

After getting a little bit of rest, the Golden State Warriors were firing on all cylinders against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night. With these two having played several close contests over recent seasons, it finally feels like the Warriors are figuring out what do against Utah to make the games easier.

The Jazz fell behind big in their first meeting but were able to make it a game. That was not the case tonight as the Warriors rolled behind a huge night from Stephen Curry and their stout defense.

Dallas squeaks by Portland after nearly blowing a 25-point lead.

For two quarters of basketball, the Mavericks looked like a playoff team with beautiful ball movement and stifling defense. For another two quarters, Dallas looked like they were trying to catch water with their hands. Such is life for a 8-21 ball club, but the Mavericks got it done in crunch time against the Blazers.

Dallas blitzed the Blazers in the first half by building a 25-point lead. J.J. Barea got into the game and caused the havoc that we’re accustomed to seeing. Unfortunately, he had to leave the game with Achilles soreness, which seems to be a virus for this team.

Every Clipper will have to step up during Blake Griffin’s absence.

The Big Picture:

So, with the “if they stay healthy” tag now lying in the gutter with other discarded preseason qualifiers like “if DeMarcus Cousins stops being a child”, the Clippers again focus their attention on excelling without Blake Griffin.

Houston’s three-point shooting returned in the win over Phoenix.

The Rockets had to play almost a full four quarters, but they pulled away down the stretch and were simply too much for a young Suns squad in a 125-111 win.

James Harden finished with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 14 assists to lead the Rockets with his 23rd double-double on the season, which is as many as he had all of last year. He was also 5-11 from beyond the arc in much better shooting night from deep for Houston.

After Kyrie Irving missed a game winning attempt, LeBron took over

LeBron James played 47 minutes tonight. That’s a lot, and it’d be tough to swallow if the team hadn’t come home with a win. The issue was very much in doubt, but James himself took matters into his own hands with long three pointers sprinkled in throughout the second half and overtime. He got just enough help from Kyrie Irving and company, and the Cavs scored a tough road victory over a decent team without Kevin Love.
