Waiters injured Rudy Gobert on what the Utah big man called a “dirty” play Friday

If Dion Waiters isn’t dirty, then the only players with worse luck than him the past two games are the guys on the receiving end of his fouls.

A game after sidelining Utah’s Rudy Gobert on what Gobert said was a “dirty play,” Waiters found himself on the giving end of a questionable foul on another big man -- Detroit’s Andre Drummond.

Another outstanding night from Aaron Gordon gets Orlando’s road trip started on the right foot.

It wasn’t always pretty for the Magic. Despite their gaudy score, the offense often looked aimless without Elfrid Payton on the court, and even Payton himself struggled with turnovers (6 on the night). They missed 14 of their 43 free throws, including three straight technical free throws. They threatened to throw away a gigantic lead in garbage time.

The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Los Angeles Clippers, 120-111 to snap a 4 game losing streak. On a night where OKC got the absolute best we’ve seen from newcomer Paul George, the story of the game was the Thunder’s execution down the stretch. After leading most of the night, the Clips tied up the game at 105 with 5:37 to go. However, this time out, the Thunder responded with a 14-4 run over the next 4 minutes that rebuilt the cushion and sealed the win.

For the second game in a row, the Spurs came out strong after halftime, combining unselfish play and hot shooting from deep to take down the Clippers.

Following their 120-107 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, a round of applause could be heard escaping from the Spurs locker room. It could’ve been celebrating the 33 assists (a season-high) they collected as the ball moved around with purpose, stretching their opponents’ ranks. Or maybe it was for their dominant third-quarter performance, in which they outscored LA, 40-21. Either way, it’s the kind of showing the team, now on a three-game winning streak, will be happy to build on in the coming weeks.

The second Raptors-Bulls meeting of the year was, somehow, a much closer affair than the first.

This was supposed to be a recap in which I copy-and-pasted large chunks of the one I wrote for the Raptors’ 117-100 win on opening night in hopes that no one would notice. For three quarters, this game was eerily similar to the Raptors-Bulls match-up of three-ish weeks ago.

Boston didn’t have the prettiest game, but found a way to get their 10th straight win.

It was a big night in the NBA, as Boston hosted the Lakers for the first ever Lonzo Wednesday. The Celtics was in a tough spot missing Al Horford. While nobody can replace his versatility, Aron Baynes played great starting in his stead. He was a monster on the offensive boards and held his own against Brook Lopez. Baynes posted a career high 21 points, aided by some nice feeds from Kyrie Irving. Leading scorer Aron Baynes isn’t what anyone expected, but you have to be ready for anything in 2017.
