UFC 238 already had two title fights on the card, but it seemed a little thin from a “big name” measure. Despite the fact that the card goes down in less than a month, the UFC has decided to add a pretty huge lightweight fight to the card to beef that up - Donald Cerrone vs. Tony Ferguson
Ferguson (24-3, 14-1 UFC) has been out since a thrilling victory over Anthony Pettis last October. He had been dealing with some personal issues that kept him away from fighting, but he appears to be behind them and he recently met with UFC president Dana White to get the ball rolling.
Apparently that ball will roll over to Cerrone (36-11, 1 NC, 23-8 UFC), who is coming off a great win over Al Iaquinta in the UFC Ottawa headliner last weekend. Cerrone is no stranger to short-notice fights, so this actually makes a lot of sense for him since he’s unlikely to get the Conor McGregor bout he’s been asking for.
UFC 238 goes down in Chicago on June 8th. Henry Cejudo and Marlon Moraes will battle for the vacant UFC bantamweight title in the main event.
