Reasons to keep watching DeMar DeRozan’s nasty dunk on the Pistons

On Wednesday night, DeMar DeRozan uncorked arguably the most memorable play of his entire career. With the Raptors down one point with less than 10 seconds to go, it was time to make some magic. DeRozan drove the entire length of the court to dunk on all of Anthony Toliver.

We know DeRozan is an incredible player. We know he’s up for big moments. But something about this moment on March 7, 2018 put DeRozan into a new category that most of us has been hesitating to put him in.

Let’s enjoy the moment.

The actual dunk
It’s just a damn good dunk. The Pistons played no defense, but the dunk ... the dunk is very good. It’s a two-handed, extremely strong take to the basket with all the confidence in the world.

And Toliver? Well, thank you for your participation in this historic moment.
Run this back and listen. Mark Brown begins the call very calmly, mentionining that DeRozan has 25 points in the second half, before shouting out “DeMar DeRozan has six to go, got all the way to bucket! Dominate! Dynamite! Detonate on Detroit!” He’s just yelling out every word that starts with the letter “D” at this point, which is fine given we are talking about DeMar DeRozan.

Meanwhile Hubie Brown is screaming “OH MY, OH MY!” which I could listen to on repeat for the rest of my life. OK, now listen again. The crowd roar is exceptional here given this is a home game in Detroit. Sure, there were plenty of Raptors fan in attendance, but this was more of a shocked scream coming from the entire building and it just kept going.
