Joaquin Oliver was one of the 17 victims in the Majory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting earlier this month. On Sunday, his parents revealed that the 17-year-old Oliver, a huge Miami Heat fan, was buried in a Dwyane Wade jersey. On Monday, Wade had a bit more to say about Oliver and how his death affected the Heat shooting guard. Oliver was happy about Wade’s return to Miami on Feb. 8, according to his parents, but his life was tragically cut short during the mass shooting at the school in Parkland, Florida, on Feb. 14.

On Saturday, the Miami Heat honored victims of the shooting before their game against the Memphis Grizzlies, including a pre-game tribute. Wade opened up the tribute with a few words. “Tonight we honor the 17 lives that were tragically lost in Parkland,” Wade said. “We applaud the fearless students that are fighting for their lives. We also make sure that their voices are heard around gun safety. You are our nation’s inspiration. We salute you and we support you.”

Rest in peace, Joaquin.
