George Michael’s ex Fadi Fawaz has been arrested after ‘squatting’ at the late singer’s London mansion. Fadi, 46, had been squatting in the £5 million Regent’s Park property – which was left to George’s sisters in his will – since George’s death on Christmas Day 2016. And on 23 July, he was arrested on suspicion of aggravated criminal damage, and was pictured being led into a police van in handcuffs after resisting arrest. In pictures from the incident, the hairdresser – dressed in a white shirt and grey trousers – was led away with his arms behind his back by a number of policeman, who had parked a van outside the London mansion. Before his arrest, Fadi was seen leaning against the wall with a football beside him as two police officers stood watch.

According to sources, Fawaz was shouting: ‘I am not going there, I am not going there, I am staying here, I want to stay here.’ Police said that officers were initially called out to the property following reports of a man on the roof, which had suffered ‘extensive damage’. After arriving at the home at 7pm last night, officers then called firefighters, who arrived at 8.24pm to help clear up leaking water. A Met Police spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘Police were called on Tuesday, 23 July at around 19:00 hours to a report of man seen on the roof of an address in Park Village Mews, NW1. ‘Officers attended and the man was no longer on the roof but inside the address, which had extensive damage.

‘Due to the damage inside the property the London Fire Brigade attended. ‘The man, aged in his mid-40s, has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated criminal damage. ‘He has been taken into custody at a north London police station.’ George’s family had reportedly been sending legal letters asking Fadi to leave the house, but he has allegedly ignored the notices due to ‘squatters rights’.

A source close to the late singer’s family told The Sun in May: ‘Fadi is being a real pain about all this. ‘He has refused to leave despite several letters and requests in the last 18 months. He is blanking them out and it appears he now has squatters rights.’ The insider added: ‘It’s been going on for such a long time that it’s hard to know what to do next. The lawyers are seeing what can be done. It would be a lot easier if Fadi just upped sticks and left.’ It is claimed that Fadi was arguing that he was was given permission to live in the house by George before his death aged 53.

Fadi’s arrest comes just over a week after he was accused of ‘going berserk’ and smashing windows and lights in the home – however, he claimed he was ‘renovating’. Last month, it was revealed that Fadi, who was in a relationship with the Faith singer for four years, had been left out of George’s £98 million will. George’s beloved sisters Melanie and Yioda received an equal share of all the star’s major assets, including his two London homes while his father Kyriacos, or Jack, has been left a horse racing stud, where he has lived for a number of years.

Sequel announcements and trailers aren’t the only way to get everyone’s attention during Comic-Con. Sometimes, all it takes is an iconic movie star and an LBD. On hand this weekend to announce her role as Thena in Eternals, the Marvel blockbuster film series coming next year, Angelina Jolie graced the stage at the San Diego Convention Center in a Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello dress. Minimal yet undeniably sexy, the asymmetrical look continues Jolie’s winning streak of all-black fashions that highlight her toned physique and love of understated design.

Accented by gold Cactus de Cartier earrings and a matching ring, it was an outfit that subtly channeled the goddess vibe of her character—she is an immortal heroine with superhuman strength after all—without going too costume-y. As always, Jolie and her stylist Jen Rade kept things simple, making the most of a sleek silhouette. The strategic cutouts added visual interest to a dress that could have seemed standard, while also offering a glimpse of the actress's famous tattoos—giving it just the right dose of Jolie-appropriate edge.

As the 50th San Diego Comic-Con International rolled out its sense of history, Hollywood brought trailers to the five-day event that pulled in viewers with their own sense of nostalgia.

“Star Trek” leader Jean-Luc Picard returns decades later, as does another long-toothed flyboy, Tom Cruise’s Maverick. Meanwhile, another mid-'80s touchstone, the epic graphic novel “Watchmen,” gets a fresh adaptation.

Smirking graphic teasers for an animated “Harley Quinn” and a rebooted “Jay and Silent Bob” turned heads, as did footage of Henry Cavill’s latest hair transformation for “The Witcher.”

Here are the five trailers that rose as favorites:

5. “Rick and Morty”
Die-hard fans of Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland’s brand of comedy genius have to wait long, parched stretches between seasons, so this short teaser scene to preview the Adult Swim show’s fourth season is a welcome sip of goodness. Here, Taika Waititi — also a smash at Comic-Con when announced as the returning director for “Thor: Love and Thunder” — spins sly lines such as “That’s not how apps work” as Glootie, the pink-and-purple alien. (Coming in November)

4. “Top Gun: Maverick”
We see Goose and the original ‘80s gang in flashbacks, but Cruise and his spit-shine grin soldier on more than 30 years later as Maverick now answers to grizzled leader Ed Harris. Times and technology change, but the hard-charging Maverick, like Cruise, refuses to be eased toward irrelevance any day soon. (June 2020)

3. “Watchmen”
In the same week that Alan Moore announced his retirement from comics, HBO rolled out its teaser Saturday for the series adapting characters from Moore and Dave Gibbons’s graphic-novel masterpiece. It’s been a decade since Zack Snyder hewed close to the book for the feature film. Stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons and Don Johnson will surely operate under much looser reins for the Damon Lindelof series as they venture beyond the “lollipops and rainbows.” (Late 2019)

2. “Star Trek: Picard”
As in “Logan,” Sir Patrick Stewart encounters a powerful female warrior who could be the future. In this case, CBS All Access is extending its Star Trek line with the stand-alone “Picard,” and little more than hearing Stewart deliver his resonant lines is needed to pique the interest of many “Trek” fans. (2020)

1. “It: Chapter Two"
Twenty-seven years later, the return of Pennywise is reuniting the old gang — now grown but terrified anew. We hear the Losers’ Club oath: “If it isn’t dead, if it ever comes back, we’ll come back, too.” Soon the jump-scares are back in Derry, Maine — “I craved you,” we hear Pennywise intone — as Bill Hader, Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy join the hit franchise, with Andy Muschietti returning to the director’s chair and Bill Skarsgard back as the killer clown. The Emmy nominations on Tuesday saw Game of Thrones and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel dominate nods for honors but there was plenty of recognition for other shows.

Here is a selection of takeaways from the best of the rest:

Beyonce
Queen Bey racked up six nominations for her Netflix special Homecoming: A Film by Beyonce, which gave fans an intimate look at her performance at the Coachella music festival last year, when she became the first black woman to headline the event.

The live concert film was nominated for outstanding variety special, as well as writing, production design, costumes, directing and music direction.

Beyonce has previously been nominated for an Emmy—in 2013 for her Super Bowl halftime show, in 2015 for her On the Run Tour with husband Jay-Z and 2016 for her album-filmLemonade—but has yet to win the award.

Sexual abuse documentaries
Leaving Neverland, and Surviving R. Kelly, two documentaries on sexual abuse, were among the shows nominated for an Emmy.

HBO’s four-hour Leaving Neverland, which features testimony by two men who say Michael Jackson sexually abused them as children, earned five nominations, including for directing and picture editing.

Surviving R. Kelly, which features testimony by more than 50 people who say they were abused by the R&B superstar, received one nomination for outstanding informational series or special.

The nomination comes just days after the singer was arrested on charges of recruiting underage girls for sex and attempting to cover up the crimes.

Handmaid’s Tale
Despite its latest season not being eligible in key categories this year, The Handmaid’s Tale still managed to get 11 nominations including for outstanding writing for a drama and directing.

The series, which won best drama in 2017, was not eligible to compete in top categories because it missed the eligibility deadline.

The Emmys only recognize shows that were on in the 12 months to May 31. But the show made 16 technical category submissions for episodes from the tail-end of the previous season.

Multiple nominees
A number of multi-talented stars were recognized across a range of categories or productions this year.

Natasha Lyonne and Phoebe Waller-Bridge both secured acting and writing nominations for their work on Russian Doll and Fleabag, respectively.

Bill Hader went a step further, appearing in the lead actor, writing and directing lists for HBO drama Barry.

Killing Eve actresses Fiona Shaw and Sandra Oh also picked up additional nominations for their guest roles on other shows—Shaw for Fleabag, and Oh for her appearance on Saturday Night Live.

Kapuso abroad in Canada had the time of their lives when they got the chance to bond with no less than actor Dingdong Dantes as he joined the celebrations for the Philippine Independence Day as well as the Filipino Heritage Month there.

Dingdong’s first stop was in Toronto last June 22 for the “Pinoy Fiesta and Trade Show Toronto” organized by the Philippine Canadian Charitable Foundation (PCCF).
