O’Shaquie “Ice Water” Foster, the WBC junior lightweight world champion, will defend his strap against Abraham “El Super” Nova in the main event of an ESPN-televised tripleheader TONIGHT The Theater at Madison Square Garden.
This will be the second title defense for Foster (21-2, 12 KOs), a native of Orange, Texas, who salvaged his title with a come-from-behind 12th-round knockout over Rocky Hernandez last October. Nova (23-1, 16 KOs) is unbeaten as a junior lightweight and has won two fights since a stoppage loss to Robeisy Ramirez.
In the 10-round co-feature, Las Vegas-born junior lightweight contender Andres "Savage" Cortes (20-0, 11 KOs) will face Puerto Rican puncher Bryan Chevalier (20-1-1, 16 KOs), who has won four straight by stoppage.
And, in the 10-round televised opener, featherweight phenom Bruce Carrington (10-0, 6 KOs) steps up against Bernard Torres (18-1, 8 KOs). Carrington, from Brownsville, Brooklyn, was named 2023 Prospect of the Year by ESPN.com and Ring Magazine.
Foster-Nova, Cortes-Chevalier, and Carrington-Torres will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
The ESPN+-streamed undercard (5:20 p.m. ET/2:20 p.m. PT) features rising heavyweight Guido "The Gladiator" Vianello (11-1-1, 9 KOs), who takes on Moses Johnson (11-1-2, 8 KOs) in an eight-rounder.
