While I agree that Pacquiao’s win over Thurman is not an ordinary feat, given that the Filipino is already 40 years old, the aftermath of the fight showed Pacquiao must have sustained a terrible beating.

LOS ANGELES (July 25, 2019) — Former junior featherweight world champion Jessie Magdaleno will take on Rafael Rivera in a 10-round featherweight clash Saturday, Aug. 17 at Banc of California Stadium. The Magdaleno-Rivera fight will be the co-feature underneath Emanuel Navarrete’s WBO junior featherweight world title defense against Francisco “Panchito” De Vaca.

SAN DIEGO -- The California State Athletic Commission, which met Monday in San Diego, lifted a suspension on a boxer who had been barred from fights in California since forcing a kiss on a television reporter during an interview earlier this year.

Kubrat Pulev was suspended in March after kissing reporter Jenny Ravalo on live television following a fight in Costa Mesa.

Russian boxer Maxim Dadashev has been placed in a medically induced coma after undergoing brain surgery following his loss to Subriel Matias in an IBF junior welterweight title eliminator bout on Friday night.

After deciding that his fighter had taken too much punishment, Hall of Fame trainer Buddy McGirt decided to throw in the towel after the 11th round. It proved to be a wise decision as Dadashev vomited before he could even make it back to the locker room, and he left the arena on a stretcher.

Round 1: Payano takes the center first, ad he’s pawing his lead hand out there, gauging the range. Payano takes some wild swings, a big left hand landing at the end, but Nery walks through it. Payano gets Nery up against the ropes, and there may have been a clash of heads. Outside right hook slips through Nery’s guard and lands on the chin. Nery avoids the follow-up one-two from Payano. The round comes to an end without much action, especially from Nery.
