John ‘The Gorilla’ Ryder is using the shotgun approach to making sure he gets a big fight by targeting SIX different guys for his next contest. First off, Canelo Alvarez is Ryder’s Plan-A opponent and the one that he wants most of all. Canelo (53-1-2, 36 KOs).
Chris Arreola (38-6-1, 33 KO) reports that the discussions are going well for a fight against Andy Ruiz Jr (33-2, 22 KOs). Arreola is ranked #7 with the WBA, and victory over #4 would move him up the rankings. Chris has already challenged for world titles three times in his 17-year professional career, and he’d like another shot.
Former WBA super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg gave Jono Carroll a hard face shove when he grabbed his bicep during Friday’s weigh-in. Carroll (17-1-1, 3 KOs) didn’t look too happy getting shoved to the face by Quigg, but luckily he didn’t make things worse by jumping him. LAS VEGAS (July 1, 2020) — A southpaw stylist weighing 140 pounds and a 250-plus-pound heavyweight will enter “The Bubble” spotlight at MGM Grand for Week 5 of Top Rank on ESPN's Summer Series.
On Tuesday, July 7, two-time world title challenger and top junior welterweight contender Jose “Chon” Zepeda will face Kendo Castaneda in a 10-round clash of styles. Two days later on Thursday, July 9, longtime heavyweight contender Carlos Takam will fight Jerry “Slug” Forrest in a 10-rounder.
