UNIVERSITY of the Philippines eyes to stretch its unbeaten streak to four against Far Eastern University Wednesday in the UAAP Season 86 men's basketball tournament at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Rookie Francis Lopez knows that the Fighting Maroons still have a lot of polishing to do in maintaing their perfect record.

"You know, I just wanna say that the job is not finished for us. We have a lot to work on. This was just our third game like coach (Goldwin Monteverde) is saying that it is just the start of the season," said Lopez after UP overpowered National University, 78-60, last Saturday.

"We were really happy about today's game but we are moving on the next game and hopefully we can get that win," the Las Piñas native added.
The Fighting Maroons hope to sustain their fiery form in the 11 a.m. duel with the Tamaraws.

FEU remained without a win in three games under new coach Denok Miranda, as it squandered a 14-point fourth quarter lead in a 58-65 defeat to University of the East.
The Red Warriors, one of the four teams sporting 2-1 records, hope to carry the momentum of the come-from-behind win against the Tamaraws in the 1 p.m. showdown with defending champion Ateneo.

"We practice really hard every day. Coach Jack (Santiago) and the whole staff do their part every practice. We stayed as a unit and what coach Jack said, we stuck to the system and the system worked," said Gjerard Wilson, who presided over UE's stirring comeback in the payoff period.

The Blue Eagles opened their title retention campaign by losing two of the first three games, the worst start since coach Tab Baldwin handled the team in 2016. Ateneo's lone win came from the hands of De La Salle in last Wednesday's rivalry game.

The BulldogUPs hope to rebound from the blowout loss to UP as they tangle winless University of Santo Tomas at 4 p.m., while the Green Archers and Adamson University face off in the last game at 6 p.m.
Tickets to the first two games and the last two contests of Wednesday's doubleheader are sold separately. TJ
