The first time Geraldo “Bong” Ramos played in Indonesia was as team captain of the ESQ Pasig Giants, who, in 1988, invaded and eventually ruled the Asean Inter-City basketball tournament.

So impressed by the performance of the tiny and speedy Filipino point-guard were officials of the Pelita Jaya squad that they hired Ramos as the team import for its campaign in the Indonesian basketball circuit, earning the distinction as the first ever Filipino to have played as such in that country.

TNT KaTropa is bringing in two-time champion and 2013 Best import awardee Marqus Blakely as it looks to have a much-needed surge midway in the conference. The 29-year-old Blakely last played in the league in 2016 for Magnolia, then called Star, but was let go several games into the tournament. Blakely, who will replace the ineffective Stacy Davis, already had six previous tour of duties. He was also a part of his former franchise’s Grand-slam conquest in 2014.

After a sluggish opening half, the Beermen suddenly came to life and unleashed their wrath the rest of the way to waylay hapless Columbian Dyip, 143-119, getting back in the winning column in the 2018 Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

BLACKWATER Elite improved to 2-0 in the Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup after topping the San Miguel Beermen, 103-100, on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Stayed resilient amid a steady rebuffing from San Miguel for much of the contest, Blackwater flipped things up late in the game and pulled off the victory.
