A 29-12 third quarter gave the Kings a lead they’d never relinquish against the injury-riddled Mavericks.

In a game that seemed prime for a KANGZ moment, Sacramento saw the talent disparity between themselves and the Mavericks, developed a comfortable second half lead, and… never KANGZed it up.

Starting against the likes of Salah Mejri and Dorian Finney-Smith, DeMarcus Cousins and Sacramento (8-13) took advantage of Dallas’ lack of size (and talent) in the post; Cousins finished with a team high 24 points to go with 14 rebounds and seven assists, and the Kings scored 68 points in the paint (41 in the first half).

The Cavaliers had no problem disposing of the Knicks Wednesday.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (15-5) are a better basketball team than the New York Knicks (12-10), and they showed just that Wednesday night in their 126-94 victory in Madison Square Garden.

The Cavs were in control of the game pretty much from the jump Wednesday. They led 36-26 after the first quarter thanks in large part to 16 early points from forward Kevin Love, who started the game by going 5-9 from the field. Cleveland held a double digit lead for much of the first half, though the Knicks were able to cut it to lead to 51-42 near the five-minute mark of the second quarter.

The Spurs avoided the trap game and improved to 13-0 on the road.

Unsurprisingly, the Spurs were a bit sluggish out of the gates after last night’s thriller in Milwaukee. By the 7:24 mark, they were just were just 1 of 10 from the field and down 12-3, resulting in a line change by Pop. The bench picked up the slack, led by 8 points from Patty Mills, who was likely seeking redemption after last night’s goose egg from the field. They briefly took a one-point lead before the Wolves hit their last two buckets to take a 22-19 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Houston made easy work of the Lakers and rested some starters in the process.

Well, we asked for an early night for the Rockets starters and we got one, as Houston rolled over the shorthanded Lakers 134 - 95 at the Toyota Center for their fourth straight victory and largest point total of the season.

The Rockets were led by Eric Gordon’s 26 points, and he also set a new career high by draining 8 triples. Gordon played just 24 minutes and got some much-needed rest for that sprained ankle. Houston also got 25 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals from James Harden. The Beard sat the entire fourth quarter and should be well rested for Friday’s matchup with Russell Westbrook and the Thunder.

A crazy final minute highlighted Houston’s third straight win.

In a frantic final minute of action that featured a flagrant one on James Harden, a sprained ankle for Eric Gordon, a tackle of Montrezl Harrell and ultimately a ball-don’t-lie miss at the buzzer by Al Horford, the Rockets managed to hang on and defeat the Celtics 107-106 at the Toyota Center to move to 14-7 on the season.

A close game for much of the night, Indiana closed strong against Phoenix, leading to a 15-point win. Paul George led the Pacers with 25 points. Myles Turner scored 20 and Jeff Teague had 19.

The Indiana Pacers got by the Phoenix Suns in large part due to a 9-0 run halfway through the fourth quarter that finally gave the Pacers the separation they needed to seal the victory. Despite the 109-94 final, the first 41 minutes was a back-and-forth affair where neither team was able to build or maintain any leads.

Fake blowouts >>>> fake comebacks.

New York won for the eighth time in 11 games and eighth out of nine at home, defeating Sacramento 106-98. The Knicks are two games over .500 for the first time since you were a dream and a speck in somebody’s eye. They opened doing that thing where they put the opponent in the penalty three or four minutes into a quarter, and all the Knicks save one were bricking.

Indiana erased an early deficit to sweep the season series against the Clippers thanks to big play from Rodney Stuckey and Paul George. Thaddeus Young led the Pacers with 17.

The Indiana Pacers fell behind early, stormed back, went up big, and held on late to secure a season sweeping victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on the road. The Clippers blitzed the Pacers to start, going up 9-0 and led 27-12 late in the first quarter. The game had all the makings of a typical road showing by Indiana, but the play of the second unit, particularly that of Rodney Stuckey, allowed the Pacers to chip away in the second quarter.
