The wait is about to be over.

After the closest election in modern British Columbia history, the B.C. Legislature is set to return this morning.

First on the agenda is the election of the speaker, with the B.C. Liberals expected to put forward someone to occupy the chair.

The real fireworks are expected in the afternoon when Lieutenant Governor Judith Guichon reads the government's speech from the throne.

The B.C. Liberals are hoping to keep the confidence of the legislature with 43 MLAs, compared to 41 NDP MLAs who have the support of the three Green Party MLAs.

Major policy changes promised

B.C. Premier Christy Clark has already announced some of the major policy changes that the B.C. Liberals would implement if the throne speech passes. If it doesn't, Clark said they'll still campaign on these pledges in the next election.

Police say a 19-year-old male suspect is in custody, public not at risk

Powell River RCMP say they have arrested a 19-year-old man after two people were killed and another man was injured in an apparent shooting in Lund B.C.

Lund is about a 30-minute drive north of Powell River on B.C.'s Sunshine Coast.

The search for a small aircraft that's been missing for nearly two weeks in the B.C. Interior has been called off.

On Monday, a statement said the "full-scale" search for the plane, which had been carrying two people when it disappeared on June 8, has been "reduced."

The Piper Warrior was on its way to Kamloops, B.C. from Lethbridge, Alta. when it was reported missing.

Vancouver Police are cautioning the public after a series of debit card thefts and frauds targeting intoxicated people at night in the Granville Entertainment District.

So far nine incidents have been reported, involving thousands of dollars, yet investigators believe more have occurred.

More than a decade after First Nations along northern B.C.'s so-called Highway of Tears began pleading for reliable public transportation, two new bus routes have started regular service along Highway 16.

The first of the new B.C. Transit buses set off from Burns Lake early Monday morning, bound for Smithers along a stretch of road notorious for the high numbers of disappearances and murders of Indigenous women in recent decades.
