The Central Okanagan Regional District reported localized flooding in the wake of a powerful windstorm that swept across southern British Columbia on Tuesday.

The district said in a news release that residences in low-lying areas near lakes throughout the region were affected as winds caused a storm surge and whipped up waves, pushing already high water levels past flood stage.

Port officials are lambasting the family of a young girl for "reckless behaviour" after she was dragged into the water by a sea lion off a dock at Steveston in Richmond, B.C.

Robert Kiesman, chair of the Steveston Harbour Authority, said there are several signs posted at the popular tourist destination warning people not to feed the sea mammals that frequent the area.

The first successful Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation fundraiser concert happened four years ago at SD Galleria it was organized and a joint effort of the Vancouver based foundation ambassador Angel together with her bandmates at Ironic Pitch composed of Super Von and Christian Warren Brocales, with their guests of local Filipino bands. The beneficiary of the fundraiser concert was the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation.

B.C. winery owners facing life in Chinese prison for smuggling

A B.C. husband and wife are facing 10 years to life imprisonment in China for allegedly under-reporting the value of wine they export to that country. And the Canadian government is under fire for not doing more to help them.

Chinese customs officials in Shanghai have charged John Chang, 62, and his wife Allison Lu with smuggling. Their trial is scheduled to begin May 26.
