Las Piñas Mayor Imelda T. Aguilar on Friday expressed confidence that 700 new graduates from various vocational and technical courses at the Las Piñas City Manpower Training Center will soon find gainful employment locally and abroad.

The new graduates, members of Batch 139, attended daily sessions from July to September 2017.

Serafica is being groomed to replace Ana Rosario Paner, who has resigned as SRA chief.

Surpassing its target of 1,000 participants in this year’s Coastal Cleanup drive, a total of 1,066 took part in cleaning the 1.5-kilometer stretch of Manila Bay fronting SM by the Bay at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Gathering as early as 4 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, participants—composed mostly of students, SM employees and young professionals—cleaned the area of garbage that lined up the bay.

The 6.5 magnitude earthquake that shook the Visayas region on Thursday left many parts of the area without electricity.

The quake, centered eight kilometers southwest of Jaro town on Leyte Island, busted power lines in Leyte, leaving the whole province in the dark.

“During these times, we have to rely on nature to provide us with energy, such as solar power,” says Korean businessman Ralph Kim, who established the Unique Korean Corporation, a company that supplies solar energy to residential, commercial, and industrial clients from the Sky Taeho main factory in Korea.

Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp., in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), recently opened its Smart Classroom at the Guadalupe Elementary School in Carmen, Davao del Norte.

It is the 14th Smart Classroom in the Philippines and is the very first classroom under DepEd’s Adopt-a-School program.
