TACLOBAN CITY - All systems are go for the month-long Sangyaw  Festival of Lights  that kicked off June 9 in Tacloban City, including safety and security SOPs.

Tacloban Mayor Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez, with the Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO) led by City Director Rolando Bade and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) assured the public that security measures are in place around the city following the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao.

Korean businessman Ralph Kim came to the Philippines for a mission – to paint the country green. And he plans to do this using solar energy.

In 2015, Kim came to the Philippines and saw the country’s energy problems. He has been around Asia but felt particularly drawn to the Philippines because he says the people are more friendly. He set his heart in the Philippines and went back and forth before establishing his mission here, which is to use solar power for electricity.

ORMOC CITY - Tacloban City once again celebrates the Sangyaw  Festival of Lights  in honor of  Señor Sto. Niño, kicking off with a motorcade through the city’s main streets on June 9 to signal the opening of the month-long festivities.

Tacloban Mayor Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez led the motorcade which was participated in by the festival sponsors, city government employees and the 2017 Miss Tacloban candidates. The Sangyawan Park at the Balyuan Grounds was also inaugurated and opened to the public after the motorcade.
