Inviting the outdoors in

Global lifestyle brand Crate&Barrel is open for living, indoors and out, as it launched its Spring/Summer 2017 collection.

“The biggest trend in interior design and décor for 2017 is about inviting the outdoors in,” says Crate & Barrel US vice president for Merchandising Raymond Arenson. “This is the time of year to expand living spaces by flinging open the doors and furnishing outdoor space with indoor comfort.”

“These modern outdoor living rooms break down the barrier between indoor and outdoor living – seeing the outside as not separate from the home but as an extension of it. We are calling this trend Open for Living,” he adds.

With this, Crate & Barrel’s style of the season focuses on The Great Room, where one can experience relaxed modern living and entertaining, indoors and out. There’s a carefree lakeside mindset as The Great Room story continues with focus on the kitchen side.

Inspired Kitchens go beyond the everyday foundations, now setting the home’s décor and style statement with color and new furniture-level dining islands that create social flow in the living side of the Great Room, whose doors now open to a Modern Outdoor Living Room.  Living and entertaining, indoors and out become all fluid and seamless.

Colors, on the other hand, celebrate this indoor/outdoor breakthrough. Navy’s Making Waves as the Blue theme evolves from Fall 2016, to navy in combo with crisp bright White from Outdoor collections to entertaining tabletop.

Likewise, it’s Anything but Neutral as this new trend for Spring 2017 plays up texture, scale and sculptural profiles.  An evolution of Fall 2016’s White Wood Warm installation, this palette anything but neutral, making a dramatic statement on its own or living comfortably with the blues.

The Inspired Kitchen is an opportunity to start the year off with a Fresh Color Pop, showing the Savvy Stylist how to re-think and re-energize the everyday Aqua and cream, blue and white, copper and marble, black and white, mint, pistachio… even white becomes a newer color with fresh texture.
